Don't look...there's nothing down here for you!
SixAce and I, maybe plus Rogue and Sharpie, will be leaving Gainesville about 10 AM on Friday. We plan on meeting at the McDonald's at exit 496B. Then up I35 to the Turner Turnpike to Sand Springs.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Are any of you driving on the track Friday afternoon? If so you won't get to Hallett before 1:30 if leaving Gainsville at 10 on Friday. Gabwong was right on our drive time last year. We tried to leave McKinney at 6 but was closer to 6:30 and got to track around noon. We had two and a half stops on the way up; half being a gas and go in Tulsa.
A group is going up Thursday. We won't leave before 1pm and maybe as late as 4pm. We will arrive in Jennings (a few miles south of the track) by 10pm. If you would like to run up with us call me for details: two won four nine nyne for nyne nine six oh.
dropped the car off the jacks at midnight, thank god my wait tell the last minute to order and install stuff worked out so well..... /wrist
Ya'll have fun up there Gas at the track is about $1-1.50 a gallon more than outside the track, but you can't leave the track all the time during the day... so bring some fuel cannisters...
And no 93 up there, for those that need it. You can make 94 by mixing 7:3 91:104 (that they sell at the track)...
lol miatas don't have back seats, so no worries :)
just got to lake keystone
So how was it guys? Everyone make it through the day without problems?
Pretty good......Thomas broke Fuji Jimmy's Miata......twice and Shanna bent her MSM a bit against the water barrier.
The rest had a really good time, and getting in to the Shiner now.
I had a great first time on the track and can't wait until next year!

Last session on Friday I went for a late pass into turn 1. Had a bad line and ran out of room to brake, hit the wet grass and ended up with the rear of the car in the tire barrier. Sucks, but it was a bad decision on my part.
It looked a lot worse than it was. The back bumper was trashed and some body damage on the passenger side from the tires, but it was all cosmetic. We got the car running again before we left that night and managed to run another 2 secs. faster in the morning...
Then the motor blew. It was bound to happen at some point. 9000 rpm and the original stock connecting rods from the '95 block gave up after flogging the car for around 2 years. Not bad, kudos to Mazda for building such a stout motor. The #3 rod gave out and knocked a hold in both sides of the block.
It was a rough weekend, but Jimmy is happy that the car ran a 1:28.2 (all motor, 225 Nitto NT-01s on 15x8 Rota RBs). Both Raul (the builder) and Jimmy are excited about building a higher compression bottom end with upgraded internals.
Gary's beast was the only car faster with consistent low 1:27s but I think the tranny went out later in the day. It looked sick on those 275 Hoosiers!!! Great driving Gary! Wags was also silly fast getting his black NA (with Matt Andrew's monster wing) down into the 1:30s. Everybody really stepped it up this year and I had a great time. Can't wait to go back
Sorry for the long post.

Sad to see the car getting put on the trailer as it sure was fun to watch (and hear!). I'm sure it will be back better than before..
Good times for sure. Nice seeing all you guys again. Lots of fast cars and friendly people make for a great trip.

I had fun with everyone, as usual. It was really cool to drive this time...rather than drive other people's cars or work on mine instead of driving.
TXMC: Drinkin, shootin, racin!
On the way home I ran Route 66 the took 77 down from the Turner Falls twisties.
While speeding thru one of the small towns, flashing light behind me....
but it was a Miata, No other than the Jeffman!
as I ease back on 77, I notice my odometer is reading 200,000.
Wierd.
Great time going up, at Hallett, and trip home.
Can't wait 'til next year.
