Nice. That's only 1874 pounds - lighter than an Elise!

No way thats 275 hp normally aspirated. I have serious doubts about the weight too.

Yes way, all you have to do is raid the cosworth parts bin.

I've seen these running in person, they're the real deal.

Nice, and I definitely "want one"... but this isn't an MX-5 anymore. It's simply a racecar with a few MX-5 parts left in so that it looks like an MX-5. You might as well buy a Star Mazda or Radical SR4 or...

    That's a 2.3L on 108 octane not a 2.0 on street gas.

Did it say anything about street gas???

Anyway Jimmy made 185 whp on 11:1 compression and 93 octane on the 1.8L Fuji car. The new 2.0L MX-5 engine is worlds better than the NA/NB 1.8L as far as N/A goes. I have no doubt a good engine builder could make 275 bhp in a 2.0L.

    Was 14:1 in a 2.3. Big difference from 11 or 12:1 in a 2 liter.
I think 250 at crank would be about max for a built engine with throttle bodies.

Brian Goodwin's flyin banana NC made ~270whp and if remember correctly car and driver weighing in at ~2000lbs with the driver at ~200lbs. 2.5L block, 2.0L MZR cosworth spec head, custom exhaust, cosworth ITBs, and MOTEC. For a race team with money and sponsors 275hp should be eazy peazy.

I'm still eying the FM supercharger in the future for the NC. I aim for next summer.

No matter how hard I try, I can not see Quan saying "eazy peazy".

WOW a completely gutted racecar that's only barely lighter than a street car with a stereo, a/c, power windows j/k

If you want to compare apples to apples racecars, this would destroy the NC. 1,590 lbs w/o ballast and 400 hp.

p.s. wish I could run this much rear tire
